We’ve been friends for over 10 years. Our common love of tuna sandwiches, have’a chips, and a slightly un-natural addiction to iced tea bonded us and from there we grew into a tried-and-true amazing friendship. What started as a simple catch-up session over a glass of chardonnay turned into an idea and the idea turned into a brand. We came up with the idea for Beek back in March of 2014. Truth be told, Birgit has been dreaming about designing these sandals since birth (ok, maybe an exaggeration, but it’s been a long time) and Kenna has a pair of leather sandals from Italy that she bought about 20 years ago, that she would possibly sell her kidney for. So to say the least, we are both very passionate about leather shoes and they quickly discovered that they both loved the same styles and look so the idea was born, and we got to work and its been pretty darn fun the entire time. We hope that comes through in the design, the vibe and the story of Beek.
According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), 15.9 million children under 18 in the United States live in households where they are unable to consistently access enough nutritious food necessary for a healthy life. We are going to try to help change this. With every pair of sandals purchased, Beek will donate a meal for a child in need. This will be accomplished through multiple outside charities with their kids programs, in which we donate directly to their efforts. We are passionate about fighting childhood hunger and we hope that you will feel good about supporting this cause through the purchase of Beek sandals.
